Two Network Rail apprentices are sharing their experience to encourage others to consider a career in railway engineering as part of National Apprenticeship Week (7-13 February).

The overhaul of Gatwick Airport station has marked another major milestone as over the weekend (Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 February) the final three of eight new escalators were lifted into place at the station.

Network Rail has just finished resurfacing Morfa level crossing in the coastal village of Harlech, following a suggestion by the safety-conscious pupils of Ysgol Tan-Y-Castell.

The Portsmouth Direct line will shut for nine consecutive days between Guildford and Petersfield this weekend for a major upgrade that will tackle delays for South Western Railway passengers.

Passengers are being advised about work to replace the lift giving access to platforms 13 and 14 at Manchester Piccadilly station.

Engineers will start work this week on the Mallaig line at Lochailort in the West Highlands.

• Until then, passengers are being asked to plan ahead and arrive at the correct drop-off point for their train’s platform

Eight years today (Friday 4 February) since the infamous 2014 storm severely damaged the railway on the South Devon coastline, Network Rail’s new sea wall project is making excellent progress and having a tangible and positive impact on the town and railway.
