Network Rail is teaming up with the British Transport Police (BTP) and Festival Republic, the organisers of this weekend’s Reading Festival, to set up a safe space at Reading station as part of a campaign against sexual violence.

Work to construct the new bridge over the railway at Nithsdale Road in Glasgow’s Southside is now underway following successful demolition of the old structure.

Both rail passengers and an endangered species are benefiting from work to protect the Chase line in Staffordshire.

The Northumberland line will edge closer to running passenger trains once more this August Bank Holiday, as Network Rail upgrade a key section of the route.

Network Rail engineers will be packing their tools instead of barbecues for a long weekend of major engineering work in South London, Kent and East Sussex this August Bank Holiday. 

Essential rail upgrades are to take place on the Great Eastern Main Line and several branch lines this autumn and in the lead up to Christmas.

Network Rail will shortly begin tree and vegetation management on the line between Aberdour and Kirkcaldy.

Network Rail engineers have successfully completed upgrades to Littlehaven level crossing and now have the bank holiday weekend to complete final stages of work at Parsonage Road level crossing in Horsham while the railway is less busy.
