Ground-breaking work on a £145m rail reliability upgrade between Manchester and Sheffield will start later this month.

Network Rail has reopened Cot Hill bridge in Plympton, Devon, today (Friday 20 May) following essential maintenance and repair work.

Last night (Thursday 19 May) a team from Network Rail won the BI (Business Intelligence) Solution of the Year category at the British Data Awards, beating tough competition from Hitachi Solutions, No7 Beauty Company (Walgreens Boots Alliance), ThoughtSpot and Transforming Systems.

Together they've travelled further than the moon so now the entire fleet of passenger assistance buggies at London Euston station have been replaced after 18 years.

Network Rail and Riding Sunbeams are regrettably unable to continue with the Selmeston Solar Rail Connection project to power electric trains from a community solar farm near Berwick, Sussex.

Buses will replace trains from Monday 18 July - Saturday 3 September while major work to upgrade the line is delivered.

Network Rail has completed the construction of Reston station.

The station has been backed by £20m of investment from the Scottish Government. Completion will enable trains to call at the village for the first time since 1964 – with services set to call from Monday 23 May.

Volunteers from Network Rail and GWR recently joined forces with Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership and students from Plymouth University to give the disused platform and old signal box at Bere Alston station in west Devon, a much-needed spring clean.
