Network Rail will be carrying out tree and vegetation management from the start of January to the end of February the East Coast Mainline between Innerwick and Penmanshiel.

Engineers are continuing with major track and signalling upgrades around Manchester this Christmas to boost reliability, allow more trains to run in future and improve connectivity across the North.

The first image of a major facelift for Crawley station has been released and building work is underway on the first phase of a project that will give visitors to the town a much brighter welcome.

Platforms at Romiley station on the Hope Valley line are being extended in January 2022 to allow longer trains to stop there in the future.

Festive walkers will get an extra Christmas present as the walkway over Barmouth Viaduct will temporarily reopen on Christmas day until 9 January to allow pedestrians to use it over the Christmas period 

• More than 200 railway workers are giving up Christmas with their families to remodel the track layout between platforms 4 and 6 as part of a project to boost reliability
• Major work will take place over 10 days, including Christmas Day and Boxing Day when there are no timetabled train services
• Changes to services from Monday 27 December 2021 to Monday 3 January 2022
• Very limited services to or from Leeds station on Sunday 2 January – passengers urged to check before travelling
