Network Rail launches ‘Live Wire’: new electrification safety education campaign
Network Rail this week launched a new safety education campaign - ‘Live Wire’ - to increase awareness among schoolchildren about railway electricity and how to stay safe around the railway.
The initiative coincides with the electrification of a number of key routes across the north west of England between now and 2016. The first electrified line will be switched on in August 2013.

Bike safety week at Derby station
Cyclists in Derby are being offered advice on how to keep their bikes safe as part of National Bike Week. Teams from British Transport Police and Network Rail will be working with their partners East Midland Trains, Derbyshire Constabulary and Derby Cycle Group at Derby station on Tuesday 18th and Thursday 20th June from 5-7pm. As well as tips on protecting their bikes, cyclists will be offered information about using level crossings safely.
