The chairman of Network Rail, Professor Richard Parry-Jones CBE, has today announced his intention to step down after he has finished three years in the role in July.

A total of 41 new apprentices have joined railway maintenance teams in depots across the West Midlands and north west of England to start their on-the-job training after successfully completing their first year of the award-winning Network Rail Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme.

A total of 37 new apprentices have joined railway maintenance teams in the North East, East Midlands and South East to start their on-the-job training after successfully completing their first year of the award-winning Network Rail Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme.

A total of 19 new apprentices have joined railway maintenance teams in the south east of England to start their on-the-job training after successfully completing their first year of the award-winning Network Rail Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme.

Responding to the news that RMT, TSSA and Unite members have voted to accept the offer made by Network Rail on 1 June, Mark Carne, Network Rail chief executive, said: "This has clearly been a difficult period of uncertainty for our employees and for the people and businesses that depend on us. I am therefore pleased that we’ve come to an agreement.

A total of 12 new apprentices have joined railway maintenance teams in the east of England to start their on-the-job training after successfully completing their first year of the award-winning Network Rail Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme.
