Train operators have been offered the opportunity to gain discounts on their track access charges by Network Rail in a bid to encourage new business to the railway, particularly freight.

A 30-mile stretch of the railway between Newcraighall and Tweedbank will be cleared of overgrown trees and vegetation from next week.

Network Rail at London’s Waterloo station has been granted the Autism Friendly Award by the National Autistic Society, the UK’s leading charity for autistic people. The station is the first Network Rail managed station to receive this award.

The railway between Birmingham New Street and Coleshill Parkway reopened today (Tuesday 27 August) after major track upgrades to improve journeys and in preparation for HS2 – Britain’s new high-speed railway.

Train services along the Severn Beach and Filton lines have resumed this morning (Saturday 24 August) after seven days of essential round-the-clock work to renew track and replace a railway bridge. 

Network Rail and contractor AmcoGiffen will shortly begin work at Giffnock station as part of the East Kilbride Enhancement electrification project.

Passengers and motorists are urged to check before they travel this September as Network Rail carries out a multi-million-pound bridge replacement.

Network Rail has partnered up with Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) and local artist Aimi Rix to create striking artwork which was unveiled yesterday to improve passenger experience at Luton station.
