Rail passengers in South Cambridgeshire will soon benefit from longer trains that can carry more people as Network Rail begins work to extend platforms at three Cambridgeshire stations.

A third of a tonne of clay, thought to be 54 million years old, has been un-earthed from beneath London Bridge station and turned into art inspired by the rail network and the station that is used by 54 million passengers each year.

Passengers have been thanked for their patience after a busy programme of improvement work took place across the south east over the last two weeks.

Work on the final phase of the Cardiff Area Signalling Renewals project will begin on Christmas Eve. With less than a week before Christmas, passengers are being reminded to plan ahead and check before they travel as Network Rail invests £11m as part of its Railway Upgrade Plan in the south east.

A pop-up exhibition charting the 180-year history of London’s oldest railway station is taking place at London Bridge station this December.

A new platform at Cardiff Central station designed to help ease congestion will be unveiled in the New Year-all part of Network Rail’s Railway Upgrade Plan.
