Passengers and families in the North West have been experiencing the one-of-a-kind Railway 200 Inspiration Train for the first time after it arrived in Blackpool.

Passengers have been given advance notice of a major programme of improvements on the West Coast Main Line.

The Transpennine Route Upgrade’s (TRU) West Alliance has won 'The Most Outstanding Award' from the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) in their National Site Awards.

Passengers travelling between Birmingham Moor Street and London Marylebone this weekend are being advised of journey changes while engineering upgrades take place.

Installing new track and sleepers will affect journeys between the East Midlands and Skegness this weekend (Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 November), passengers are reminded.

Train services are once again running between Preston and Carlisle following significant disruption caused by a derailment on Monday morning. 

The West Coast Main Line is set to fully reopen later tonight after a train derailment in Shap, Cumbria, on Monday caused significant disruption.
