Network Rail is urging passengers who need to travel over the late May Bank Holiday to check their journey and plan ahead as work begins on a project to improve the track layout at Leeds station.

• West Coast main line passengers urged to travel either side of the May bank holiday (Friday 30 April and Tuesday 4 May)
• Major work to improve future journeys for passengers and freight is taking place this weekend (Saturday 1 May to Monday 3 May)
• On those days trains and stations will be busier with some rail replacement buses running
• People should follow Government guidance and minimise the number of journeys they make where possible

 Network Rail will begin the next phase of vital work to upgrade Cornton level crossing this week.

Network Rail will shortly begin work to repair and repaint the railway bridge on Quarry Street near Hamilton Central station.

People are being reminded about the dangers of ignoring warning lights and leaving the gate open at Lower Cullernie crossing, between Inverness and Nairn.
