As summer starts to hot up with high temperatures forecast this week, Network Rail’s Western route has been busy making sure that the hot weather doesn’t cause frustrations for passengers and that any potential disruption to journeys is minimised.

Residents living in Tackley, Oxfordshire, have been invited to share their views on the proposed plans for the replacement of a level crossing in the village, near Kidlington.

Network Rail will stop work on a new sea wall at Dawlish, in Devon, this weekend before resuming in September as they look to minimise the impact on tourism and the community during the peak summer period.

Network Rail is carrying out vital maintenance work on the Severn Beach line in Bristol during July and August with work starting this weekend to ensure the continued safe and smooth running of the railway.

New figures out today show that overall passenger satisfaction on Network Rail’s Western route has improved by four percentage points since last year, making Western the top scoring route in the country with a passenger satisfaction score of 86%.
