Network Rail is reminding people of the dangers of playing on or near the railway as some areas gear up for half term, amid a spate of incidents involving children and young people misusing level crossings. 

The completion of a new rockfall shelter marks a major milestone for Network Rail’s programme of work to protect the iconic coastal railway between Exeter and Newton Abbot from extreme weather. 

Network Rail is making six stations on its Wales and Borders route fully accessible for the first time with the construction of new footbridges and lifts.

• More than half of users from Wales who texted Shout about loneliness were under 25-years-old (61%) with almost a quarter (24.5%) being between the ages of 14-17, with almost one in ten (9%) being 13 and under

The sun shone overhead and there were smiles all round as many of the people who had played their individual parts in saving and restoring the Rewley Road swing bridge came together for the unveiling of the plaque presented to the Trust for their work.

Network Rail is reminding passengers to check before travelling this weekend as Great Western Railway services between Bath and Bristol will be affected by rail improvement work on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 October.

London Paddington has become the first station managed by Network Rail to offer ‘stoma friendly’ toilet facilities ahead of Stoma Aware Day, which takes place on Saturday 7 October.
