Network Rail today committed to continuing the biggest investment in Welsh railway infrastructure since the Victorian era. Its plans will reduce costs and deliver more passengers on time than ever before – but the company also warned that tough choices need to be made if the industry is to meet these competing challenges.

A total of 40 people have been involved in slips, trips and falls on stations along the Wales route, according to the latest figures published by Network Rail.

Work is to commence this week on a £5.1m project to improve Llandudno Station in North Wales. Mark Langman, Network Rail’s Wales route managing director, said: “This very important project to enhance Llandudno station will regenerate and revitalise this area of the town."
