Network Rail is inviting North Wales residents to a drop-in event to learn more about how Tyn Y Morfa level crossing, near Prestatyn, will be modernised as part of Network Rail's Railway Upgrade Plan. 

South Wales passengers planning to travel over the weekend of Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 April 2017 are advised that no trains will be operating between Cardiff Central and Cardiff Queen Street stations.

The Conwy Valley line is expected to reopen in mid-April following weeks of extensive repair work needed as a result of damage caused by Storm Doris in February.

The final phase of the North/South Wales Enhancement project will begin on Friday 24 March, which will deliver essential enhancements to the railway between Wrexham and Chester as part of Network Rail’s Railway Upgrade Plan.

Mardy Road Bridge in Cardiff will close to road traffic from 20 March 2017 until autumn 2018, as essential work to upgrade the railway continues in preparation for a new fleet of electric trains which will improve journeys for passengers.

• Two female Network Rail assistant asset engineers joined forces with leaders from business, academia and the Welsh Government to encourage girls to think about a career in rail engineering.

Platform 2 at Abergele and Pensarn station reopened on Sunday 12 March following the completion of enhancement works as part of Network Rail’s Railway Upgrade Plan.

School children in Torfaen are learning about the dangers of the railway through interactive sessions hosted in association with Network Rail this week.
