Passengers will now benefit from improved access at Eridge station in East Sussex after the opening of a new £1.8m footbridge. The work was needed due to the age and condition of the old structure, in order to protect the safety of those using the bridge and the trains operating below.

Network Rail engineers are turning their attentions to the Portsmouth area in a busy January 2021 as one of the city’s most prominent Victorian railway structures gets some vital engineering attention.

Network Rail has invested £5m to enhance the look and feel of Eastbourne station in East Sussex. The work included canopy refurbishment, slate roof replacement, masonry work to the front of the station and new roofing above the atrium.

Network Rail has joined forces with renowned street artist Lionel Stanhope and the Barnes Community Association to brighten up the walkway underneath an historic station in South West London.

Railway neighbours in Whitstable, Kent, will have seen and heard the sounds of hard work the past few weeks as Network Rail and its contractors continue a project to clear vegetation from tracks through the town.

Network Rail engineers will be rebuilding a crucial section of West Sussex’s railway next year, including a nine day period when there will be no trains at all through Horsham.

Network Rail is upgrading Canterbury East station with new lifts and a new footbridge, providing step free access at Canterbury East for the first time. Tactiles will also be installed along both platforms to improve use for passengers with visual impairment.

Rail passengers in South East London and Kent are advised to plan ahead for their Christmas and New Year journeys as work to upgrade the railway through Lewisham continues.
