A month before the four-day Easter weekend, passengers are reminded to plan ahead and check before they travel as Network Rail carries out essential railway upgrades across the south east.

Plans to make sure the railway can continue to accommodate huge growth in passengers and freight in south east London and Kent have been published by Network Rail – and you can have your say.

Network Rail is inviting users of Vauxhall station to find out more about upcoming station upgrade work which will reduce congestion during peak periods and make it easier for passengers to board and alight trains.

Rail passengers in the Sutton to Wimbledon and Mitcham corridor can look forward to better, more reliable journeys as a £45m railway upgrade gets under way.

Network Rail has kicked off its campaign to increase the number of females employed on Britain’s railways with an event at Ash Manor School in Surrey, which is designed to show teenage girls the enormous breadth of careers available in engineering and the wider railway industry.

Network Rail has completed an important weekend of improvements at Waterloo this weekend (4/5 March) replacing vital sections of track to make the railway more resilient and more reliable as part of the enormous £800 million Waterloo & South West Upgrade.

The number of lorries hitting the notorious Thurlow Park Bridge over the A205 South Circular Road in Tulse Hill, London, has fallen by more than a third since new smart warning signs were introduced last summer, reducing delays to rail passengers and motorists.
