Bookings have opened for visits to a unique exhibition train in December, part of a national celebration of the 200^th anniversary of the modern railway called Railway 200. 

• Bicentenary train, Inspiration, will visit London Victoria station 18-20 December as part of its journey to 60 locations across Britain over 12 months, promoting rail innovation and careers.
• Inspiration will also visit Southampton (14-16 December)
• Co-curated with the National Railway Museum, 30,000 have already visited and 88% would recommend it to a friend

Trains are running again on the North Downs Line between Guildford and Gatwick Airport following a two-week closure to complete major signalling and level crossing upgrades

Passengers in Berkshire and North Surrey will face changes to their journeys during October half-term, from Saturday 25 October to Friday 31 October, while Network Rail carries out major upgrades on the lines between Wokingham and Reading as well as between Staines and Windsor with buses replacing trains during the work.

A special fleet of leaf-busting trains has this week begun working across Kent and Sussex to keep the railway running safely and reliably.

Drivers and rail users between Guildford and Portsmouth need to be aware of staggered rail and road closures in the Surrey and Hampshire areas, between 27 September and 13 November, as Network Rail engineers complete the final stage of the Portsmouth Direct signalling upgrade.

Leaves are browning, autumn is around the corner and Network Rail alongside South Western Railway (SWR) are gearing up for its annual multi-million-pound battle against Mother Nature and ‘leaves on the line’, aiming to keep millions of passengers and trains safe and moving over the next three months. 

Improvement works will run on the Island Line from 18 October to 17 November, with a mix of full and partial closures.
