Network Rail chief executive Mark Carne visited the new training campus at the Basingstoke Rail Operating and Training Centre with two of Network Rail’s first year apprentices on Thursday (20 Aug).

A new entrance flanked by a row of shops and cafes will complete the transformation of a south London street next to the new London Bridge station.

Residents from Needham Market and representatives from Network Rail and a number of local authorities in Suffolk have formed a new group to find a long-term solution for Gipsy Lane level crossing.

The UK is now home to the first, brand-new Siemens-built Class 700 Desiro City train, which is set to transform passenger experience on the Thameslink rail routes when it rolls into action next year.

On the evening of Sunday 26 July we received a report that the first carriage of the 2010 Charing Cross to Ramsgate train had become derailed after hitting cattle in the Godmersham area, between Wye and Chilham.
