At a public meeting chaired by Maria Caulfied MP, Network Rail has this evening announced plans to remove the Plumpton level crossing gates and replace them with a safe 21^st century solution in order to reopen the road by mid-November.

Network Rail has begun work to build the new station at Abbey Wood as part of the Crossrail programme.

Network Rail will be holding a public meeting chaired by Maria Caulfield MP on Friday October 16 to update residents on plans to reopen the level crossing in Plumpton.

Network Rail has written to residents to apologise for the disruption caused by the current closure of Plumpton level crossing, setting out the possible steps that could enable the crossing to reopen in the short term whilst working to find an acceptable, safe, long term solution for crossing users and the community.

Network Rail will be holding a drop-in session on Saturday October 10 to show residents plans to replace the Chandler’s Ford footpath level crossing with a stepped footbridge.

One of Network Rail’s fleet of ‘high output’ machines has begun essential maintenance between Haslemere and Petersfield in order to improve reliability on the line between London Waterloo and Portsmouth.
