A major milestone has been achieved by the project to rebuild the railway at Dover, despite the actions of a group of youths throwing rocks at workers.

• Network Rail staff visit local schools to educate young people on the dangers associated with the railways

• Network Rail is upgrading the lines to support the new electric trains which will be used on the Elizabeth Line and the trains on the Great Western route.

• The new Electric Over Head Line system which carries 25,000 volts will be turned on in 2017 across the Thames Valley.

The first of five consecutive weekends of work at Chislehurst, south east London, has been completed successfully and safely by Network Rail.

Network Rail and South West Trains are reminding passengers and those living near the railway to find out more about upcoming work to improve drainage and reduce the risk of flooding between Fulwell and Shepperton.

Network Rail will begin work to extend the platforms at Martins Heron station on Sunday (19 June), allowing longer trains to call at the station as part of the organisation’s Railway Upgrade Plan.

Passengers travelling on the line connecting Norwich, Suffolk and Essex with London Liverpool Street will experience fewer heat related delays to train services in summer, following a major upgrade of the overhead lines which power the trains.

Network Rail is reminding passengers in Aldershot to check before they travel over the weekend of 25 and 26 June while it replaces a 120 year old bridge over Aldershot High Street as part of its Railway Upgrade Plan.

A new web app has been launched in the South East this week, with the aim of helping commuters take action if they think someone might be at risk on or near the railway.
