Network Rail has completed an £800,000 replacement of the footbridge at Westgate-on-Sea station with stepped access between the station’s two platforms over the tracks of the Chatham Main Line.

Passengers from three stations in West and East Sussex can now get on and off the full length of longer Southern trains thanks to platform extensions built by Network Rail and funded by the Department for Transport.

Over £500k has been invested at Aldrington station to improve the platforms; resulting in safer and easier access for passengers to and from trains.

Denmark Hill passengers can look forward to less crowding  within the station and a more reliable train service as £7.5m upgrade plans get underway from September. 

Work to prepare for an upgrade to the track through Ashtead station and level crossing in Surrey starts next week, with work taking place every night.

Demolition work is underway at a disused railway works in Kent to make room for a new train maintenance facility.

A 130-year-old bridge is about to be replaced by Network Rail as part of its programme of engineering works this August Bank Holiday, which will affect some journeys in Kent and South East London.
