Rail staff across the South Western network are backing Samaritans’ bid to turn ‘Blue Monday’ into ‘Brew Monday’ on 15 January by helping get people together for tea and a chat on what has been dubbed ‘the most difficult day of the year’.

• Life-expired Burnaby Road railway bridge in Portsmouth to be replaced between Monday 12 February and Friday 16 February 2018.
• More than 50 Network Rail engineers and track staff will work around the clock to install
• Rail replacement buses in operation every 10 minutes between Portsmouth Harbour and Portsmouth and Southsea, with diversion routes for motorists and pedestrians
• New crossing, made from British steel, to replace the old bridge over the half-term break
• Will retain original colours of the old Victorian bridge, reflecting the famous Portsmouth crest

Rail passengers across Sussex are being urged to plan ahead as a ‘once-in-a-generation’ upgrade to the southern end of the Brighton Main Line was announced today by Network Rail and Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR).

South Western Railway passengers have been reminded to plan their journeys in advance of three upcoming weekends of planned engineering works - Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 January, Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 January, Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 February.  

South Western Railway passengers are able to travel through Southampton again after Network Rail successfully completed £8 million of track renewal work on schedule over the Christmas period.

• London Bridge’s huge new concourse and five new platforms open to the public
• Cannon Street services will now resume stopping at London Bridge
• New platform built at Redhill to increase capacity and reduce delays on the Brighton Main Line
• All part of Network Rail’s £160m Christmas investment programme

• Major service restrictions will be in place from Saturday 23 December to 1 January
• Improvement work at Sevenoaks Tunnel between Tonbridge and Sevenoaks from Saturday, 23 to Tuesday, 26 December
• Work to complete the new platform at Redhill station from Saturday, 23 December to Monday, 1 January 2018.
• On 2 January the final section of London Bridge’s huge, modern concourse will open
• Platforms 1 – 5 will be complete, allowing Cannon Street services to once again call at London Bridge

• Passengers reminded of service alterations in Southampton area from 24 December to 1 January as upgrade work takes place
• Network Rail and South Western Railway advise passengers to plan their journey ahead and travel before Christmas Eve on Sunday 24^th December if possible
