Network Rail is advising passengers across south west London to check their journeys before travelling this Easter as work takes place as part of a nationwide £118 million investment over the bank holiday weekend.

Passengers who use Stone Crossing station in Kent will have a safer way of getting across the railway after a new £3m footbridge opened today (Monday February 26).

A major redevelopment of the railway through central Croydon to transform railway performance and potentially allow more trains to run on the Brighton Main Line – including a new, expanded East Croydon station, extra tracks and flyover junctions – moved a step closer today with confirmation of government funding for Network Rail to deliver the design stages of the project.

Passengers are reminded to check before travelling over the next three weekends, 24-25 February, 3-4 March and 10-11 March 2018, as Network Rail undertakes major work to reduce delays and improve reliability on the Brighton Main Line.

Passengers in the south east are reminded to check before travelling by train this Easter as Network Rail is set to carry out a £10m programme of work to improve the region’s rail network.

Repairs to Barns Green level crossing following Saturday’s tragic incident will mean the crossing remains closed for approximately two to three weeks, with diversions in place for vehicles.

Passengers are able to travel by rail between Portsmouth Harbour and Portsmouth & Southsea station again from this morning (Saturday 17^th February) after Network Rail successfully replaced a 142-year-old railway bridge with a new 88-tonne British steel structure.

Residents living in the Compton area near Guildford have been invited to a drop-in information event to find out more about Network Rail’s £2 million investment to replace the life expired Compton road bridge, set to begin in April.
