Ahead of work to cut back trees and vegetation on the railway between East Kilbride and Glasgow, Network Rail is inviting local people to ‘drop-in’ to find out more about the work.

The railway between Aberdeen and Huntly will reopened as planned tomorrow morning (Tuesday, August 20) following the successful completion of a 15-week-long project to upgrade the line.

Following earlier than anticipated completion of the work to repair damage from recent flooding, Network Rail has announced that the West Highland Line will fully re-open for start of service on Monday, August 19.

Network Rail engineers have been on-site throughout the day working to clear over 2ft of flood water from Winchburgh Tunnel in West Lothian.

Train services will be reintroduced between Crianlarich and Oban from Monday, but the line will remain closed between Ardlui and Crianlarich until Thursday, August 22.

Vital work to repair flood damaged tracks will mean service alterations on the West Highland line for the rest of this week.

The Scottish FA and Network Rail have committed to working together to provide school children across Scotland with access to holiday football camps with an added bonus – teaching youngsters invaluable railway safety lessons.

The newly extended platform two and three at Glasgow Queen Street station re-opened this morning (July 29), following the successful completion of a four-week long programme of work.
