Network Rail is investing £4m to renew a key junction on the line between Edinburgh and Dundee.

Engineers will start work this week on the Mallaig line at Lochailort in the West Highlands.

Network Rail is currently trialling a monitoring system which provides early warning of earth movements at sites across Scotland’s Railway.

Network Rail has submitted a planning application to City of Edinburgh Council for revised proposals to install a bridge walk and visitor hub at the iconic Forth Bridge.  

With Storm Corrie set to bring heavy rain and winds of up to 80mph to Scotland tomorrow (January 30), ScotRail train services will cease running early on Sunday evening as a safety precaution.

Scotland’s Railway has withdrawn services on some lines across Scotland this morning as a safety precaution as Storm Malik blows trees and other debris onto the tracks.

With winds of up to 70mph expected to hit the network from the early hours of Saturday morning (January 29), Scotland’s Railway will be introducing speed restrictions on some lines.

Network Rail will be carrying out tree and vegetation cutting from February until June on the line between Stoney Brae and Ferguslie Park in Paisley.
