The inaugural meeting of GBRX's AI Advisory Council, setting out the Government's ambitions for artificial intelligence and its role on the railways, has been launched by Rail Minister Lord Peter Hendy.

Leaves are browning, autumn is around the corner and Network Rail is gearing up for its annual multi-million-pound battle against Mother Nature and ‘leaves on the line’, aiming to keep millions of passengers and trains safe and moving over the next three months.

The rail industry has announced the biggest timetable change on the East Coast Main Line (ECML) in more than a decade, which will provide more trains, thousands of extra seats per day and quicker journeys, as part of a wider set of timetable changes across the network this December. 

Network Rail and supplier WSP are working together to create a framework to improve the railway’s readiness for - and resistance to - potential floods and coastal erosion.

The biggest railway upgrade in the Midlands has taken a huge step forward after four companies were identified as preferred partners for the scheme.

Met Office and Network Rail have signed a deal to help drive forward research into weather and how it affects the railway.

The vast majority of the rail network will be open for business this August bank holiday weekend, so passengers can make the most of the long summer weekend to visit friends and family and travel to the hundreds of events taking place across Britain.
