Network Rail is making vital improvements between Sheffield and Meadowhall over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend which will reduce delays across the North and bring a more reliable railway for passengers.

Network Rail is carrying out major improvements to the track at Bowes Park over the Easter bank holiday weekend as part of a £2 million project to bring smoother, more reliable journeys for passengers.

Network Rail is preparing to make further progress on the rail work at Brent Cross over Easter in the first of three weekends of work to move track that links to the new station.

• Trackside piling work due to begin in April in Collyhurst and Miles Platting
• Work to be carried out safely overnight while trains are not running
• The work is part of early preparations to eventually electrify and re-signal the railway and renew track between Manchester Victoria and Stalybridge, via Ashton
• The project is part of the wider Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) that will improve train capacity and reliability from Manchester to York, via Huddersfield and Leeds

Network Rail has completed essential work to strengthen the embankment next to Sherburn in Elmet station, which means reliable services can continue connecting passengers to York, Hull and Sheffield for years to come.
