This week, teams from Network Rail will begin work to completely revamp and refurbish the footbridge at Cramlington railway station.

This weekend, Network Rail will work to upgrade Bainton Green level crossing in Helpston, Peterborough in a boost to reliability and safety.

• Improvements will bring a more modern reliable railway for passengers and reduce the impact of unplanned disruption
• Network Rail is taking the opportunity to make major progress when no train services are timetabled on Christmas Day or Boxing Day
• Reduced East Midlands Railway and Thameslink services from Monday 27 December until Tuesday 4 January – passengers encouraged to plan ahead

• Network Rail has completed a £45m project to upgrade signalling in Middlesbrough
• Signals in the area are now operated from York’s Rail Operating Centre, delivering a modern, more reliable railway for passengers
• Signallers took part in 72-hours of intense training to prepare for the smooth transition

• Work will continue later this month to upgrade the track and signalling on London’s Northern City Line ready for it to be digitally signalled by 2023
• Trains between Finsbury Park and Moorgate will divert into London King’s Cross over next three weekends – passengers reminded to check their journey
