Network Rail is raising a bridge in Great Glen, Leicestershire, to clear the way for train-powering electric wires to be installed in the future.

Passengers intending to travel to and from London King’s Cross and other destinations on the East Coast Main Line via Peterborough over the weekend of 7 and 8 January are being asked to plan ahead with travel impacted by both industrial action and engineering work.

Network Rail and train operators are urging passengers to plan ahead and check before travelling as vital work to improve reliability in and around Durham station takes place.

The Transpennine Route Upgrade is on track to better, more reliable journeys after Network Rail delivered improvements over Christmas and New Year between Manchester, Huddersfield, Leeds and York.

Passengers travelling through York station can look forward to smoother, more reliable journeys after Network Rail refreshed nearly three kilometres of track through the platforms.
