Network Rail has announced plans to recruit eleven new apprentices across Yorkshire as part of an expansion to its award-winning Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme.

Time-lapse footage captured by Network Rail over the weekend (24-25 September) shows engineers taking down over 1km of overhead wire on the railway at Gidea Park, so it can be replaced with new wire that will reduce delays for passengers as part of Network Rail’s Railway Upgrade Plan.

A railway bridge in Leeds is set to be repainted in rainbow colours as part of repair and strengthening work.

Network Rail has confirmed that a bridge which partially collapsed over the Midland Main Line in Leicestershire will reopen early next year.

From this Saturday (24 September) there will be no service between Gospel Oak and Barking (seven days a week) until February 2017 while work takes place to electrify the route ready for new trains that will carry twice as many passengers.
