Festive party-goers across Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire are being urged to take extra care of their friends and colleagues - as new figures reveal that within the Christmas and New Year period, the number of violent offences recorded at railway stations fuelled by alcohol have more than doubled in the last two years¹.

Network Rail is inviting residents in Bedford to find out more about work taking place to the railway this Christmas and in the New Year as part of the Midland Main Line Upgrade.

Over 35 Network Rail workers will be giving up spending the festive period with their families to carry out vital improvements to the railway in York.

Network Rail will begin work to improve accessibility at Nottingham railway station on Monday 10 December.

Network Rail has teamed up with the world’s most famous blue engine and pre-schooler favourite, Thomas the Tank Engine^TM, to help children learn how to be safe when using the railway. Stay Safe with Thomas was officially launched in the Anglia region at Norwich Library today (Thursday 29 November).

Network Rail and Northern are working together to carry out improvements to five railway stations in West Yorkshire as part of the Great North Rail Project.

In partnership with The Tree Council and members of both the Hadley Wood Association and Hadley Wood Rail User Group, Network Rail’s London North Eastern and East Midlands route (LNE & EM) has launched a trial to reinvigorate lineside vegetation management and establish hedgerows along Britain’s modern railway.
