All train services have today (Monday, 30 December) resumed at Leeds station after Network Rail has successfully completed the next stage of a major project to improve services for passengers.

A £2.1million investment by Network Rail took place over Christmas to renew parts of the track just south of Grantham.

Network Rail, TransPennine Express and Northern have today (Friday, 27 December) completed a vital upgrade to extend platform two at Huddersfield station, to allow new, longer trains with more seats to call there.

Network Rail is working with Northern to extend the platform at Honley station and both platforms at Shepley station in the new year. This will mean longer trains with more seats can call at both places, providing a better experience for passengers on the Penistone line.

As people open their presents and sit down for Christmas dinner, hundreds of Network Rail engineers will continue work on a major project to install a dive under, a tunnel under the railway, just outside of Peterborough station as part of the East Coast Upgrade.
