Network Rail and train operators in Yorkshire and the North East are urging passengers to check their individual journeys before they travel on Sunday, 9 February, as severe weather is forecast, including winds of up to 80mph.

Network Rail is working with Northern to extend platform one at Denby Dale and platform one at Lockwood station, as part of an ongoing project to improve seven stations on the Penistone line.

Network Rail is advising passengers that damage to overhead line equipment which is affecting services between Bedford and London St Pancras International should be fixed before rush hour this evening. This will allow train operators Thameslink and East Midlands Railway to run more services.  

Network Rail will begin major work to improve Hebden Bridge railway station next week in a £500,000 investment.

Network Rail is inviting people in North Ferriby to find out more about an £8million project to protect the railway embankment, which carries the Hull to Selby line, from further erosion. The work will mean services can continue running safely and reliably for years to come.

Network Rail is urging passengers in the Calder Valley to check before travelling as there will be nine days of changes to services to allow vital canal bridge repairs to take place later this month. 

Network Rail and the Railway Children charity have teamed up to raise over £9000 which will be used to help the thousands of vulnerable children who use the railway every year.

Last week, Network Rail taught pupils from the Leeds area about railway safety, as well as work which is taking place to upgrade the station.
