Network Rail colleagues have joined forces with Samaritans in York and in stations across the East Coast Main Line to support the charity’s ‘Brew Monday’ initiative.

Major upgrade work as part of the Midland Main Line Upgrade project is set to continue into January and February with improvements to be made to overhead line equipment on selected weekends.

Network Rail, Thameslink and Great Northern are reminding passengers to check their journey before travelling as further engineering work is carried out on two weekends in early January as part of the billion-pound East Coast Digital Programme.

Work is progressing well on the billion-pound East Coast Digital Programme with work being carried out further up the line between Peterborough and Grantham.

Network Rail is sorry that there is a reduced service for passengers at the southern end of the Midland Main Line today.  This is because of problems with part of the signalling control system following essential upgrade work over Christmas. 

Over the Christmas period, Network Rail teams carried out vital engineering work between Welwyn Garden City and Hitchin as part of the billion-pound East Coast Digital Programme (ECDP).
