Investment in London’s transport infrastructure is playing a vital role in stimulating economic growth, say local business leaders in King’s Cross, as the station marks the first birthday of the stunning new western concourse.

Residents will be able to find out about work to build a new stretch of track that will help to take more freight off the roads and onto rail.

There are around 240 places available on the national 2013 Network Rail advanced apprenticeship scheme, with 13 roles in the Anglia route in Ipswich, Romford, Ely and east London. Network Rail wants educators and young people alike to realise the future career opportunities that an apprenticeship can bring, including a university education at work.

Young people in Bedford are being urged to consider becoming an apprentice with Network Rail as the company launches its 2013 advanced apprenticeship scheme.

Six men whose attacks on railway and communications cable across Hertfordshire, Essex, Leicestershire, Buckingham and London cost almost £715,000 have been jailed.

290 people have been involved in slips, trips or falls at stations across the Anglia route in 2011/12 – the majority at Liverpool Street station - so Network Rail is urging passengers to watch their step in the run up to Christmas.
