Residents and passengers in Market Harborough are invited to attend a drop-in session to discuss the planned improvements to Market Harborough station and the Midland Main Line.

Network Rail has thanked the community of Hexham after a 10-month project to rebuild an embankment following a huge landslip last winter.

Network Rail is advising passengers travelling to and from Yorkshire to plan their journeys as early as possible this Christmas ahead of another huge programme of upgrade work with up to 200 projects being delivered across Britain over this holiday period.

Passengers travelling on the railway between Norwich and London and across to Cambridge are being asked to check before they travel, particularly at weekends as complex improvement works continue over Christmas and into 2017. This work will deliver vital railway upgrades for the Crossrail programme and remove long-standing heat related speed restrictions.

A Network Rail track worker has been praised after he carried an injured swan which crash landed on the railway line in West Yorkshire for half a mile to receive treatment.
