People living near the Northumberland Line are being warned to take extra care with more trains now running on the major upgraded route.

Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU), in partnership with Kirklees Council and Canal & River Trust, has released its plans to upgrade the canal towpath between Shepley Bridge Marina and Station Road. The rail upgrade programme will also provide improvements to Mirfield Memorial Park.

Network Rail has partnered up with Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) and local artist Aimi Rix to create striking artwork which was unveiled yesterday to improve passenger experience at Luton station.

Another step forward has been taken towards the introduction of digital in-cab signalling to the East Coast Main Line with the completion of dynamic ETCS (European Train Control System) testing for key trains in both the passenger and freight sector.

• East Coast Main Line passengers are urged to check before they travel due to pioneering digital signalling testing this August bank holiday.
• No Thameslink and Great Northern services will operate between Potters Bar and St Neots/ Royston, or between Hertford North and Stevenage on Sunday 25 August.
• Thameslink and Great Northern evening services from approximately 10pm on Saturday 24 August and early morning services on Monday 26 August until 9am, will also be affected.

• East Coast Main Line passengers are urged to check before they travel due to pioneering digital signalling testing this August bank holiday.
• No long-distance trains will operate between St Neots and London King's Cross from 8pm on Saturday 24 to 8am on Monday 26 August.
• It’s part of continuing work on the £1.4bn East Coast Digital Programme.
