Passengers travelling on services between London and Yorkshire and the north east are being advised that trains will be busier than usual this August bank holiday as Network Rail invests record amounts across the network.

Residents are invited to vote online to choose a project which will be funded and delivered by Network Rail to benefit the community in Corby after they have carried out work to improve the railway line between Kettering and Corby, as part of the Railway Upgrade Plan.

Network Rail will hold a series of drop-in events across the Pennines as work continues to upgrade the Transpennine Route.

Network Rail has temporarily closed Penny’s level crossing in Rossington, Doncaster after they captured images of young people failing to use the crossing safely.

Network Rail engineers will complete vital milestones for the pioneering Tram Train pilot this summer, as work progresses to put the South Yorkshire scheme on track from 2018.  

Rail journeys between Ipswich, Lowestoft and Felixstowe will now be smoother and more reliable following the installation of 15km of new track over a nine-day closure.

The Secretary of State for Transport, Rt Hon Chris Grayling MP, unveiled a plaque at Cambridgeshire’s newest station today (Monday 7 August) to officially mark its opening.

Work to build a new track between Stratford and Angel Road is being stepped up this autumn as part of the £170m Lee Valley Rail Programme to increase services and boost local regeneration.  Network Rail and Greater Anglia are urging passengers traveling between Cheshunt and London Liverpool Street to check before they travel at weekends as trains are diverted to allow the orange army to get to work.
