Female engineers who work to provide a better, more reliable railway for passengers in the east of England have thrown their support behind Women in Engineering Day on Tuesday June 23.

A major project which will pave the way for more passenger services between Corby, Kettering and London has entered its next phase as work in the Kettering area will start this week.

One of Network Rail’s fleet of ‘high output’ machines will begin to upgrade the stretch of railway between Colchester and Shenfield from next week (Monday May 18),  as a major project to improve reliability on the line between London and Norwich enters its next phase.

Network Rail and Abellio Greater Anglia today thanked passengers for their patience as vital upgrades were completed over the May Bank Holiday on the line between London and Norwich.

Passengers planning to travel to London during the May Bank Holiday from Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk should check before they travel as Network Rail will be carrying out vital upgrades on the London to Norwich line.

Network Rail and Abellio Greater Anglia today thanked passengers for their patience as vital upgrades were completed over Easter on the line between London and Norwich.

People are continuing to risk their lives at Grays level crossing in Essex by jumping the barriers or walking on the tracks, Network Rail has said. 

A 17 year old girl from The Perse School in Cambridge, has scooped a runners’ up prize in a national competition run by Network Rail, which aims to raise awareness amongst young women of the exciting breadth of career options in technology and redress the male/female balance in the sector.
