Worn out track is planned to be renewed on the East Suffolk line to improve reliability and provide passengers with an improved journey experience.

A Cambridgeshire bridge has reopened to rail services ahead of schedule after it was hit by a lorry yesterday (Monday 7 September).

A lorry has hit a railway bridge in Coldhams Lane, Cambridge, today (Monday 7 September) causing disruption to rail services between Ipswich, Cambridge and Ely. The road is also currently closed.

Network Rail has completed works to replace worn out track on the line between Norwich and Lowestoft to provide a better journey experience for passengers.

A huge package of vital rail upgrades was delivered over the August Bank Holiday weekend to improve reliability of services for Anglia’s rail passengers. 

Network Rail has completed the final section of infrastructure works on the £29 million upgrade of the rail line between Kings Lynn and Cambridge over the August bank holiday. 

Passengers are being advised about changes to dates for a series of emergency works to replace wheel timbers on the railway tracks on four bridges at Manea, between Ely and Peterborough, this autumn.

Passengers in the Clacton-on-Sea area will benefit from a significant upgrade in reliability and safety when a computer-based signalling system goes live as a major upgrade is carried out between now and next Spring, including a 23-day stretch of intensive engineering works during February and March 2021.
