Two bridges over the West Coast main line in Lancashire are being refurbished to secure the future of the railway crossings for decades to come.

• Railway open for ‘business as usual’ as majority of the network is unaffected by upgrade work with the quietest engineering programme for many years

With Easter just over a week away, and the early May bank holiday fast approaching, Network Rail is reminding passengers to check their plans if they’re travelling across East London, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk as it carries out a package of upgrades.

Four level crossings on the Felixstowe branch line will be upgraded to make crossing the railway safer as part of a £60.4m project to increase capacity.

Network Rail in Wales and Borders is urging passengers to plan journeys ahead this Easter (Friday 19 to Monday 22 April) as work continues to upgrade the South Wales Main Line.

Network has today (Tuesday, 9 April) announced details of the next stage of work to Bromham Road bridge in Bedford, as part of the Midland Lain Line Upgrade.

Passengers can now see how their journey will be affected during a six day closure of the line through Market Harborough as timetables for rail services during this major stage of work have today (Tuesday, 9 April) been released.
