A safety warning has been issued to pedestrians to take extra care after a near miss at a level crossing in Southport.

• Global public to narrow down 200 railway-themed artworks to just 20 by voting for their three favourites
• The longlist features paintings, drawings and sculptures from almost 100 collections
• The final twenty artworks will be showcased in a digital exhibition hosted by Art UK, the online home of the UK's national art collection
• The public will then vote for their favourite railway artwork of all time as part of the Railway 200 campaign marking the railway’s bicentenary

Work to repair a significant landslip between Three Bridges and Gatwick on the Brighton Main Line will begin on Sunday evening. Train services will continue to be disrupted and Network Rail will issue a further update as soon as possible. 

Ahead of its 100^th birthday in July, Motspur Park has received an early birthday present by becoming the latest station on Network Rail’s Wessex route to become step free, following an £11.4m investment to improve accessibility.

Journey experience for passengers has been improved with new, modern signalling equipment at South Kirkby.

Preparation for work to provide step-free access to trains at Barnt Green station will get underway next week.

From Saturday 15 to Friday 21 February 2025, parts of the railway between Portsmouth and Havant and Fareham will be closed and rail replacement buses will be in operation, while Network Rail completes critical engineering upgrades to the railway.

From Saturday 1 February to Sunday 16 February, buses will replace trains between Guildford and Gatwick Airport while Network Rail engineers complete critical upgrades on the North Downs line for the continued safe and reliable running of the railway.
