Passengers are reminded that there will be changes to journeys over the next two weekends because of various rail improvement projects.

A new agreement will allow for redundant railway materials and equipment from the mainline network to be donated from the South Eastern Railway to the East Kent Railway, marking the first agreement of its kind in Kent as the railway prepares to mark its 200th anniversary.

Passengers are being advised to check before travelling later this month as more than 10,000 wires will be replaced in Gloucester signal box to provide better, more reliable services for rail passengers. 

First Minister John Swinney joined celebrations in Galashiels today to mark ten years since the reopening of the Borders Railway. 

Network Rail Wales and Borders will be carrying out a programme of planned engineering and maintenance works on the Heart of Wales Line between Craven Arms Junction and Llandeilo Junction from 9pm on Friday 12 September to 5.30am on Saturday 20 September 2025.

When Cambridge South station opens in early 2026, all passing services – which are operated by Greater Anglia, Great Northern, Thameslink, and CrossCountry - are expected to call at the new station from day one.

On 6^th October 1846, a public bank holiday was declared as the Earl of Fitzwilliam laid Huddersfield station’s foundation stone. Last Saturday (30 August), nearly 180 years on from that momentous day, the station closed for 30 days of intense work, as its grandest transformation in a generation is undertaken as part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade.
