The line between Ely and Peterborough reopened this morning following the completion of extensive repair work after a freight train derailed last Monday.

Thousands of excited revellers will pass through Leeds station during the course of the five-day event before catching coaches or taxis to Bramham Park where the festival is held.

Network Rail and Southeastern are advising passengers that between Tuesday 29 August and Friday 1 September there will be queuing systems in place at Cannon Street station during the busiest times, as Network Rail continues to rebuild London Bridge and the surrounding railway, as part of the Thameslink Programme.

Improvements to the railway between Rugeley Trent Valley and Walsall are progressing as planned as Network Rail engineers continue work to electrify the Chase line.

Damaged track is being taken away today from the site at Ely where a freight train derailed on Monday as engineers start extensive repair work to the damaged line. Wagons have been lifted off the track with a rail crane as part of a major recovery operation which was completed yesterday.
