Virtual reality tours inside Birmingham’s iconic signal box are now online a year on from the much-loved building moving its last trains through New Street station.

The first phase of a year-long project to upgrade the retail provision at Glasgow Central station is underway.

As people settle down to commence their New Year festivities, engineers working on Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) will start work at Mirfield station.

Network Rail has completed a £5m upgrade of Streatham station providing passengers with step-free access to all of the station’s platforms.

•  More than 96% of the rail network will be open for ‘business as usual’ over the Christmas and New Year period
• While significant investment is being made in projects across the country, the £127m programme is a ‘lighter’ package of work than recent years
• Most journeys will be unaffected by engineering work but some lines are impacted, so passengers should plan ahead and check their journey details
