Passengers travelling between Norwich, Ipswich, Colchester and London via Marks Tey/Braintree and Ingatestone over Easter are advised to check before they travel, as Network Rail will carry out essential engineering work on Sunday 9 April and Monday 10 April.

From Friday 7 to Monday 10 April passengers are being asked to check before they travel as buses replace trains across part of Network Rail’s Wessex route which serves the towns and communities in part or all of the counties of Surrey, Berkshire, Hampshire, Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire.

• Passengers should plan journeys in advance over Easter bank holiday weekend as Network Rail carries out a programme of engineering work to improve performance and reliability across Britain
• Majority of network will be open for business as usual, but journeys on some routes will be affected
• More than 600 projects set to be delivered to maintain and upgrade Britain’s railway

Network Rail will close the historic viaduct for up to 13 weeks this Autumn so teams can continue a like-for-like restoration

From this Saturday 25 March to Thursday 6 April, Network Rail will be working to stabilise and widen a mile-long embankment on the railway to the north of Martlesham, on the East Suffolk Line.

Network Rail is reminding pet owners of the importance of securing dogs and other pets when near the railway following a dog being rescued from underneath a train in South East London yesterday (Sunday 19 March).
