Passengers are being thanked for their patience after a 21-day closure of the West Coast Main Line through Staffordshire, Cheshire and Greater Manchester for multiple upgrades to improve future journeys for passengers and freight.

Network Rail are advising passengers travelling between Guildford and Reigate that buses will replace trains for two weeks between Sunday 14 September and Saturday 27 September for critical signalling and level crossing upgrades.

Thousands of excited revellers will pass through Reading and London Paddington stations this weekend on their way to Reading Festival, which takes place from Friday 22 August – Sunday 24 August, and Notting Hill Carnival, held in west London on Sunday 24 August and Monday 25 August.

Network Rail Wales and Borders will be undertaking essential engineering works across key sections of the railway between Hereford, Newport, and Shrewsbury from Saturday 6 September to Monday 8 September, and again the following weekend (13 and 14 September).

South Western Railway passengers on the Hounslow Loop should be aware that buses replace trains between Kew Bridge and Barnes will be closed between 23 and 31 August while we complete vital strengthening works on Barnes Bridge.

Buses will replace trains on the lines surrounding Guildford over the August Bank Holiday weekend Saturday 23rd August – Monday 25th August while vital engineering improvements are carried out on the South Western Railway network.

Network Rail, in partnership with its joint venture development partner blocwork, is working on proposals to transform a 0.75 ha (1.85 acre) vacant site adjacent to Queen Street railway station.
