TEMPORARY CLOSURE: PADDINGTON - GREENFORD LINE

A section of railway line between Paddington and Greenford will be temporarily closed for  emergency repair work following a collision between a train and a lorry at Plassers level crossing this morning.  The incident caused minimal damage to the train involved, but substantial damage to track-side equipment, affecting signalling systems in the area.  Essential repair work must be carried out to restore this equipment before the line, between West Ealing and Drayton Green, can be re-opened to train services. Only Greenford branch services are affected by this incident. All other First Great Western and First Great Western Link services will be operating as normal. The incident occurred at 9.49am, when the 9.31am First Great Western Link service from Paddington to Greenford collided with a lorry on a private road near West Ealing station.  The lorry driver was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. No injuries were sustained by the train driver or the three passengers on board the service. Customers travelling between Paddington and stations on the Greenford branch line will be able to use a special shuttle service via Hayes & Harlington.  First Great Western Link will be operating an amended timetable until the line reopens (details below). Temporary travel arrangements are as follows: Hayes & Harlington – Greenford ·         There will be a rail shuttle service between Hayes & Harlington and Greenford, serving Southall, Hanwell, Drayton Green, Castle Bar Park and South Greenford ·         The shuttle service will leave Hayes and Harlington at 2 minutes past each hour, returning from Greenford at 32 minutes past each hour Paddington – Greenford ·         Customers travelling from London Paddington to stations on the Greenford branch line should catch the departures from London at 42 minutes past each hour and change at either Southall or Hanwell
