Rail passengers in the North West have been warned to plan ahead this weekend as upgrade work continues.

On World Environment Day (Friday 5 June), Network Rail and train operators are setting out how they are helping to make the UK a world leader in clean, green rail travel by reducing emissions, improving air quality, and protecting biodiversity across the network.

London Euston’s garden has been revamped in time for World Environment Day, as staff came together to prepare the station’s Railway 200 garden for passengers and the local community to enjoy over the summer.

From June 2026, GBR Anglia will begin changes to station entrances at Southend East in Essex. This work will support the installation of new power supplies and systems for future lifts, helping make the station step-free and improve accessibility for passengers.
