Birmingham New Street station’s highly successful Christmas Eve meal for the city’s homeless is returning once again as a take-out service.

• Engineers will remodel the track layout between platforms 4 and 6 over Christmas as part of a project to boost reliability and reduce the impact of future unplanned disruption
• Major work will take place on Christmas Day and Boxing Day when there are no timetabled train services
• Changes to services from Monday 27 December to Monday 3 January 2022
• Very limited services to or from Leeds station on Sunday 2 January – passengers urged to check before travelling

Network Rail and British Transport Police (BTP) issue stark warning after numerous incidents of trespass on the railway near Lelant railway station, Cornwall.

Despite the impact of Strom Arwen, Network Rail has successfully demolished and replaced the bridge over the railway at Lynebeg, south of Inverness on the Highland Mainline between Perth and Inverness.  It’s part of supporting work ahead of the dualling of the A9 between Tomatin and Moy.

Major progress has been made on a project to transform an engineering compound in Finedon into a wildlife habitat as over 1000 trees have been planted on the site today (Wednesday 1 December). 

Network Rail has apologised to passengers and the local community as its £30m restoration of Barmouth Viaduct is being extended after engineers found the condition of the timber structure was worse than anticipated.

Network Rail is inviting the local community to attend a virtual drop-in event this Thursday (2 December) where they can find out more about the forthcoming Torbay Road bridge replacement.

Preparatory work is underway ahead of the construction of the new East Linton station which will see trains call at the village for the first time in more than half a century.
