• Network Rail is making key progress on a £3m scheme to improve access for all at Northallerton station
• An improved subway and new accessible lifts will connect both platforms from 31 March, making the station easier to use

Eight years today (Friday 4 February) since the infamous 2014 storm severely damaged the railway on the South Devon coastline, Network Rail’s new sea wall project is making excellent progress and having a tangible and positive impact on the town and railway.

Network Rail is currently trialling a monitoring system which provides early warning of earth movements at sites across Scotland’s Railway.

An inspirational new mural is greeting passers-by and passengers at Hackney Downs station, brought to life thanks to a joint effort by local young people, artists, Hackney Arts, Hackney Council, Network Rail and Arriva Rail London.

Passengers are being advised about changes to weekend journeys between Bolton and Manchester while Network Rail improves the railway this month.

The line between Norwich and Lowestoft is scheduled to reopen on Saturday 5 February, following extensive works to repair the track bed.

The Brighton Main Line will shut for nine consecutive days later this month for a major £15 million upgrade that will tackle delays for Southern and Thameslink passengers.

Train services between Crediton and Okehampton, and Crediton and Barnstaple, will be replaced by buses from 19 to 27 February, while Network Rail completes important repairs to Yeoford bridge in Penstone.
